Change duty status in the Mobile App
Manual HOS updates, automatic changes, and special status options
Overview
The HOS button in the Maven Mobile App provides manual control over duty status while also supporting automatic status changes based on vehicle movement. This article outlines how to change status, use special statuses, and understand how automatic logic behaves.
Open the Change Duty Status screen
-
From the Maven Mobile App home screen, locate the HOS button in the top right corner.
-
Tap the HOS button.
-
By default, the button shows OFF (Off Duty).
-
-
The Change Duty Status screen appears.
The Change Duty Status screen serves as the main location for all manual duty status changes.
Change duty status
-
On the Change Duty Status screen, select the new duty status (for example, Off Duty, On Duty, Driving, or Sleeper Berth, depending on configuration).
-
Review any additional options related to the selected status.
-
Tap Save in the top right corner of the screen.
The new duty status applies only after tapping Save.
Automatic duty status changes
The Maven Mobile App updates certain duty statuses automatically:
-
When status is set to On Duty and the vehicle begins moving, status automatically changes to Driving.
-
When status is Driving and the vehicle remains stopped for more than six minutes, status automatically changes back to On Duty.
Manual checks of current status help ensure that HOS logs remain accurate.
Personal Conveyance (Off Duty)
With Off Duty selected, the Change Duty Status screen can display an additional option:
-
Enable Personal Conveyance
When Personal Conveyance is enabled:
-
The vehicle can move without triggering an automatic change to Driving.
Personal Conveyance must align with fleet policy and applicable regulations.
Yard Moves (On Duty)
With On Duty selected, the Change Duty Status screen can display:
-
Enable Yard Moves
When Yard Moves is enabled:
-
The vehicle can move around a yard or terminal without an automatic change to Driving.
-
Status remains On Duty with an active Yard Moves flag.
Use Yard Moves only in appropriate low-speed, non-public-road environments as defined by fleet policy.
Location and notes for duty status changes
Each duty status change records:
-
A location associated with the event.
-
An optional note.
Notes can document activities such as:
-
Fuel stops
-
Brake checks
-
Pre-trip or post-trip inspections
-
Other on-duty tasks
Clear notes support log reviews, audits, and roadside inspections.
