Send DOT Roadside Inspection Logs from the Maven App

How to use Roadside Inspection mode to transfer ELD logs to an officer

Overview

During a roadside inspection, the DOT officer may request an electronic copy of ELD logs. The Maven App supports this by sending a secure DOT log file directly from the driver tablet to the officer’s system, in line with FMCSA requirements.

This article explains how to start Roadside Inspection mode and send a secure DOT log file from the Maven app.

Start Roadside Inspection mode

  1. On the Maven app home screen, tap the initials in the top-left corner to open the menu.

  2. Select Roadside Inspection.

  3. The app displays inspection options. For DOT inspections in the US, use:

    • Send a Secure DOT Log File – Preferred

The secure file transfer option is the recommended method for US roadside inspections.

Send a secure DOT log file (preferred)

  1. After selecting Send a Secure DOT Log File – Preferred, the app prompts for an Output File Comment.

  2. Ask the officer for the Output File Comment and enter the value exactly as provided.

  3. Tap Send Log File.

The app then transfers the ELD log output file to the DOT’s system.

Confirm the upload status

After sending the file, the app shows a status message:

  • Successful upload

    • A confirmation message indicates the log upload completed successfully.

    • Inform the officer that the ELD file has been sent.

  • Unsuccessful upload

    • A message indicates the log upload did not complete.

    • Confirm you entered the Output File Comment correctly.

    • Check for network/connectivity on the device.

    • If the issue continues, the officer may choose another option (for example, viewing logs on the device or receiving a PDF log export), and the driver should follow company procedures or contact support.

What the officer sees

The DOT formats the received ELD file according to their own standards. As a result:

  • The logs on the officer’s tablet may look different from the way they appear in the Maven app.

  • Even though the formatting differs, the same information is included: duty statuses, events, vehicle and carrier data, and the required HOS history.
