Handle unassigned drive time in the app
Claim or ignore unassigned trips for compliance
Overview
Unassigned driving time occurs when a vehicle moves without a driver logged into the ELD. Regulations require motor carriers to either assign this time to the correct driver or document why it remains unassigned.
Drivers handle unassigned drive time directly in the Maven app; managers can also manage it in the fleet portal.
Avoid unassigned drive time
-
Log into the ELD before driving.
-
Use Personal conveyance or Yard move when appropriate, according to company policy.
See unassigned drive time in the app
When connecting to a vehicle:
-
A yellow notification bar appears if unassigned trips exist.
-
This bar appears on:
-
The Vehicle connection screen.
-
The HOS tab.
-
-
The bar remains visible until all trips are either claimed or ignored.
Claim or ignore unassigned trips
-
Tap the yellow bar to open the unassigned trip list.
-
Review trips by date.
-
For each trip:
-
Tap Claim for trips the driver actually drove.
-
Tap Ignore for trips driven by someone else.
-
Once a trip is claimed or ignored, that decision cannot be changed in the app. Contact a manager if a correction is required.
-
Claimed trips appear as Drive time in the driver’s logs.
-
To reclassify as Personal conveyance or Yard move, a manager must update the log.
Manager actions
Managers can:
-
View unassigned trips in the fleet portal.
-
Assign trips to drivers using administrative edits.
-
After the driver accepts the edit, the trip is added to the HOS log and removed from the unassigned list.
