Mileage missing in driver forms
How to troubleshoot missing miles in the Forms section and portal
Overview
If a driver reports that mileage is missing in the Forms section on the tablet (for example, miles driven showing as 0 in daily forms or logs).
This workflow focuses on verifying whether odometer data is present, confirming adapter tracking, and escalating for configuration or hardware review if needed.
1. Confirm mileage in the portal
-
Log in to the company portal as a fleet admin.
-
Open the HOS / Driver Logs for the affected driver and date.
A. Check odometer readings on events
-
On the log page, scroll to the events list.
-
Look at the right-hand side under ODOMETER (mi).
-
Confirm whether odometer values appear on events throughout the day.
-
If no odometer values appear, treat this as an adapter / data issue and proceed to adapter checks.
-
If odometer values exist, continue to check the Forms section.
B. Check miles in Forms
-
In the same driver/day view, click on Forms.
-
Locate the section for Miles Driven.
-
If Miles Driven = 0, mileage is not posting correctly to Forms, even if odometer data exists.
-
If miles appear correctly in Forms, do not treat this as a “mileage missing” issue.
2. Verify adapter power and tracking
Determine whether the adapter (VDA) is powered and tracking the truck correctly.
-
Identify the adapter type:
-
M3 adapter:
-
Use ADM to confirm the adapter is powered on and sending data.
-
-
M2 adapter:
-
In the Vehicles page of the portal, confirm that the truck is tracking (recent location/telematics activity).
-
-
If the adapter is not powered or not tracking:
-
Coordinate with maintenance to power cycle or inspect the adapter in the vehicle.
-
Consider replacement if the device does not come back online.
If the adapter is powered and tracking, continue to the next step.
3. Confirm current odometer values
On the portal, confirm that odometer values are available in real time:
-
In the Vehicles page or relevant HOS view, locate the Current Status box for the truck or driver.
-
Check whether the Odometer field displays a numeric value.
-
-
If the Current Status box does not show an odometer value, treat the issue as an adapter/vehicle data problem and escalate for hardware or configuration review.
-
If the Current Status box shows odometer values and HOS events also show odometer miles, but Forms still show 0 miles, treat this as a configuration or data-mapping issue.
-
4. Reset adapter and verify configuration
If all of the following are true:
-
-
The vehicle is tracking correctly,
-
Odometer miles appear on HOS events and in Current Status, and
-
The Forms section still shows Miles Driven = 0,
-
then treat the issue as a mileage posting problem to Forms (not a tracking or odometer problem) and proceed with adapter reset and configuration checks.
-
Send a powercycle command to the adapter from ADM or the appropriate tooling.
-
Have a Maven Support:
-
Reapply the adapter configuration, or
-
Verify that the correct configuration is applied for the fleet/vehicle.
-
After the powercycle and configuration check:
-
Monitor the driver’s logs and Forms to see if Miles Driven begins to populate correctly.
