Verifying Vehicle & VDA connection
: How drivers confirm the app is properly connected before driving
Overview
This article describes how a driver can verify that the Maven Driver App is correctly connected to both the truck and, where installed, the Vehicle Data Adapter (VDA) before starting to drive.
Applies to
-
Fleets using Maven ELD or any Maven solution that relies on VDA-based data capture.
What to Check Before Driving
After selecting a vehicle:
-
Vehicle name or number
-
Confirm the displayed vehicle on the home screen matches the actual truck.
-
-
Connection indicators
-
Look for any in-app indicator that confirms the vehicle and/or VDA connection (for example, a connected icon or status label).
-
If the app shows a “disconnected” or “no data” status, connection may not be complete.
-
-
HOS status behavior
-
When the vehicle begins to move, the app should transition to Driving automatically if configured and connected to the VDA.
-
If status does not change as expected, the VDA or vehicle connection may not be functioning properly.
-
Best Practices
-
Verify connection at the start of every shift.
-
Recheck after:
-
Vehicle changes
-
App updates
-
Device restarts
-
If connection indicators do not appear as expected, follow the troubleshooting steps below.
